BRITS hoping to enjoy some fun during the half-term holidays will be nicely surprised but they’ll have to be quick off the blocks as rain is coming later in the week.

The weather is due to deteriorate as the week progresses, becoming wetter and winder although temperatures should remain slightly above average for this time with temperatures hitting 16C.

Met Office forecaster Simon Patrtidge told The Sun: “If you’re looking to do something outdoors next week it’s better to get out early in the week.”

Western parts up and down the UK will mainly see showers on Monday and conditions will be windy in the north.

The remaining parts of the UK will see sunshine for the most part although there could be some showers too.

It will be drier on Tuesday, according to the Met Office although rain will develop later on in the north west, western Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Those conditions will continue on Wednesday with Northern Ireland and western Scotland seeing some rain.

England and Wales though will remain mainly dry but breezy and with some sunny spells as well.

Conditions though will change from Thursday as low pressure moves in from the West bringing rain with it.

Temperatures are expected to remain largely stable throughout the week with the South with the south enjoying temperatures around the mid-teens and a top temperature of 16C.

It will be slightly cooler in the North with the mercury hovering around the 13-14C mark.

The chance of frost next week is unlikely with night time temperatures remaining in the mid-to-high single figures.

The half-term holiday will mark something of a dramatic change in the weather after earlier this week northern parts were hit by snow and southern areas had to contend with flooding.

Storm Aurore battered Britain, causing flooding across the south of England.

The rain hit the west and north with "wintry" weather over some northern hills.

The Met Office added the unsettled weather was likely to continue for the rest of this week, with showers and breezy conditions across western Scotland and some areas of central and northern England and Wales on Friday.
