GARDENER Vince Sjodin is feeling as cool as a cucumber after growing the world’s heaviest at a whopping 30lb.
His 4ft long orange monster smashed the previous record by 7lbs, set by David Thomas in 2015.

It was Vince’s second record-breaking feat as two years ago he grew the world’s heaviest marrow — an 18-stone behemoth.
Vince said his vegetables grow so big because of the fresh air on his allotment in Barry, in the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as the “secret formula” he uses.
He said: “It’s a great achievement. I was chatting to the former world record holder David Thomas this morning and he was amazed.
“The cucumber was grown in a hammock on scaffolding netting, which helped to support the weight.”

He had a “nerve-racking” few days with the changes in the temperatures and lost a -marrow weighing 217lb due to the rainfall and it bursting open.
But he said: “Thankfully the cucumber kept and I'm looking forward to a few ciders to celebrate.”
Vince, who said his family call him Vince the Veg, grew his cucumber from seed he planted in May.
He gave it a liquid feed every day to boost leaf growth and fruit production.

A Guinness World Records representative was at the -Malvern Autumn Show, in Worcs, where Vince entered his cucumber into the UK National Giant Vegetables Championship.
His claim will now go through their verification process.

A GIANT pumpkin weighing nearly 48st was grown using “plenty of cow manure” its owner said.
Tim Saint, 42, from Reading, used a fork-lift to transport the monster to the Malvern Autumn Show.
He said: “I’ve been growing pumpkins for 20 years and it’s the biggest I’ve ever done.”
