A POLICE sergeant slapped a PC’s bottom and made sex noises before squirting hand sanitiser at her, a disciplinary hearing was told.

Sgt Wayne Wright was part of an “ingrained misogynistic culture” at the cop station, his victim claimed, saying he left her with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Sergeant Wayne Wright slapped a PC’s bottom and made sex noises before squirting hand sanitiser at her, a disciplinary hearing was told

She said he became obsessed with her bottom and added: “He liked my trousers tight and would wolf whistle and turn any conversation to my appearance.

“This would be in the parade room in front of everyone.”

She claims he made her self-conscious, so she decided to ask for a larger size of trousers — which he had to authorise.

She claims he then shouted in the parade room at South Shields, South Tyneside: “I just want to let everyone know that she is now a size 12.”

The junior officer told the hearing: “Everyone was laughing at me. It left me feeling humiliated, stupid and embarrassed.”

Sgt Wright, who denied breaching police standards, said he did not recall slapping her bottom, but accepted he did it as it was witnessed.

He claimed the hand sanitiser incident did not happen. At one stage he allegedly asked her if his “banter” was OK, as he “did not want sexual harassment claims”.

She is making a civil claim for damages against Northumbria Police.
