PETALING KAYA: Police are investigating allegations of sexual harassment of a woman by police personnel in a patrol car.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said they were alerted about these allegations which were posted on Twitter on Friday (Nov 12).
"Twitter user Lord Pretty @Qhaishaaantsha posted a picture of a police patrol car and alleged that the personnel inside had sexually harassed her.
"We can confirm that the Honda Civic police car in the picture belonged to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters," he said in a statement on Saturday (Nov 13).
He said a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the authenticity of the allegations.
"To assist with further investigations, we urge the owner of the Twitter account to come forward and lodge a police report and have her statement recorded.
"Necessary action will be taken if any misconduct as alleged is found to be true," he said, adding that the Petaling Jaya police headquarters will not compromise in dealing with any wrongdoing involving its police personnel.
He also urged the community to come forward and make complaints at the nearest police station if police personnel from Petaling Jaya committed any wrongdoing.
