BATU PAHAT: A 58-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a car along Jalan Muar-Parit Sulong here.

       Batu Pahat acting OCPD Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident, at about 7am on Tuesday (Feb 27), was believed to have happened when the driver of the car tried to overtake another vehicle.

       “The car was heading towards Parit Sulong from Muar while the motorcycle was coming from the other direction.

       “The car moved into the oncoming lane as it attempted to overtake another vehicle. This led to the head-on collision with the motorcycle,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 28).

       He added that the motorcyclist, from Melaka, died on the spot from serious chest injuries.

       “The motorist, a 24-year-old man from Muar, had some minor head and leg injuries,” he said, adding that the driver tested negative for drugs.

       The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

       The video has gathered over 500 comments, 1,100 reactions, and 76,000 views on Facebook at the time of writing.
