PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry identified 29 new Covid-19 clusters on Tuesday (Sept 14), taking the active number of clusters to 1,448.
In its daily Covid-19 updates, the ministry reported that 14 of the 29 clusters were workplace-related outbreaks.
The largest cluster involved a community outbreak in Kampung Sungai Kiol in Jerantut, Pahang.
A screening of 421 individuals there discovered 87 positive cases.
A workplace cluster was reported in Jalan Bidor Belatim, in Batang Padang, Perak where out of 147 people tested, 65 were found to be positive with Covid-19.
Meanwhile, a high-risk group cluster in Jalan Upland in Kuching, Sarawak, saw 51 cases.
The country reported 15,669 new cases - including 17 imported cases on Tuesday - the lowest since Aug 2.
The locally transmitted cases involved 14,169 Malaysians and 1,483 foreign nationals.
The combined total of 3,057 cases for the Klang Valley is a huge drop from the peak of its infections in early August when daily cases reached as high as 11,000.
Selangor recorded 2,632 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (411) and Putrajaya with 14.
Sarawak, which has been recording the highest number of cases in recent days, reported 1,983 new cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country’s cumulative total number of cases now stands at 2,011,440.
“Of the 15,669 cases, 15,386 or 98.2% are those with mild to asymptomatic infections.
“A further 283 cases or 1.8% are Category Three, Four and Five infections,” said Dr Noor Hisham.
In the same 24-hour span, 18,053 patients in the country were discharged from treatment.
A total of 1,764,579 people in Malaysia have recovered from Covid-19.
