KAMPAR: Some tourism operators in Perak are still not ready to welcome tourists even though domestic tourism activities are allowed for fully vaccinated individuals in states under Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan.
State Housing, Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi said the incomplete vaccination rate among their workers was one of the main contributing factors.
“Therefore, I urge all parties involved, especially hotels and homestay operators, to ensure that they are fully prepared to reopen their premises to tourists,” she told reporters at the Community Vaccine Mobilisation (MOVAK) programme for the Tualang Sekah state constituency at Kampung Changkat Tin here yesterday.
Nolee Ashilin, who is Tualang Sekah assemblyman, advised all tourists to adhere to the standard operating procedures so that the travel perk could be enjoyed.
“If there are cases or clusters that arise from this activity, it will definitely affect inter-district travel permission for tourism purposes,” she said.
Nolee Ashilin also said that 1,200 residents in Tualang Sekah would receive their Covid-19 vaccination shots during the two-day MOVAK programme.
The programmeh was organised to ramp up the vaccination rate especially in rural areas. -- Bernama
