SEVEN illegal immigrants attempted but failed to avoid arrest by hiding in a cowshed in Tambak Jawa, Jeram, in Kuala Selangor.
Kosmo! Online reported the group, aged from 21 to 54 years old, included two women from Tanjung Balai, Indonesia.
General Operations Force (GOF) 4th Battalion commanding officer Supt Rizal Mohamed said investigations found the foreigners had paid between RM2,000 and RM3,000 to enter Malaysia, to work as construction workers and maids.
“All of them entered the country via the sea and did not have any legal documentation,” he said.
He added that the suspects were taken to the Kuala Selangor District Police Headquarter for further action while the case is being investigated under the Immigration Act.
> In a separate case, Supt Rizal said three men were arrested for producing fake liquor at an industrial area in Gombak, reported Harian Metro.
He said the suspects included a 25-year-old local and two Indian nationals, aged 30 and 50, respectively.
“We found 213 boxes containing 2,566 bottles of fake liquor hidden in a vehicle and six boxes containing 72 bottles of alcohol besides equipment we believe was used to produce the fake liquor,” he said.
Rizal said they also confiscated 10 buckets containing 1,590 litres of ethanoic alcohol worth RM406,917, two handphones, a lorry and a van.
The contraband was estimated to be worth RM1.07mil, including unpaid taxes.
Investigations will be carried out under the Customs Act 1967, Immigration Act 1959/63 and Excise Act 1975, he said.
> Despite being mocked as not being masculine enough, Big Stage 2022 singer and participant Danial Chuer continued to behave professionally, reported Harian Metro.
Chur said he was affected initially but was now motivated by the criticisms to be stronger.
“I have taken it as a challenge and I will prove myself to them,” he said.
Danial added he took all the comments in his stride in order to further improve the quality of his performance in the coming weeks.
