KOTA KINABALU: A woman who triggered Monday's high-speed police chase across the city here has been suspected of being high on drugs when the incident happened, according to the police.
Kota Kinabalu acting OCPD Supt George Rakman said they were still ascertaining her cause of action and investigating the case from all angles.
He said they were not referring her to any psychiatric evaluation for the time being.
She is now under a seven-day remand.
Meanwhile, several videos of a woman cleaning the interior of a black Toyota Hilux are circulating on social media platforms.
It is believed to be the vehicle driven by the suspect in the high-speed chase that was reported stolen by its owner two days prior.
Supt George said the videos would be used in the investigation but declined to comment further.
In the Monday (Feb 14) incident, the 35-year-old local woman rammed several vehicles and a roadblock in a getaway bid.
Police had to shoot at the tyre of the vehicle to prevent her from causing more damage before apprehending her.
The approximately 15km chase from the city centre to the Manggatal suburb area was triggered after the police were alerted to the vehicle by its owner who called to say he had spotted his stolen car near the central market here.
So far, only two vehicle owners who were affected in the incident have come forward to lodge reports.
