This weekend will be warmer and more humid than earlier in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday is looking mostly sunny with a high expected near 86 degrees and southwest winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph. Between 1 and 4 a.m., there is a slight chance of showers, and a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m., according to the weather service.
Highs are expected to reach the mid- to upper 80s over the weekend, said meteorologist Rafal Ogorek, “gradually increasing with time.”
There are also chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms almost every day through the weekend, with a 30% chance Thursday night and 50% on Friday, according to the weather service.
“It won’t be a watch-out or anything, but there’ll likely be periods where we have scattered showers and storms moving across the area,” said Ogorek, adding there is a limited thunderstorm risk Thursday night and throughout the weekend for parts of the Illinois near shore waters of Lake Michigan.
