On October 25, at 10:00, within the framework of the “Future Dialogue-2019” programme, the Valdai Discussion Club and Gorchakov Fund are going to hold a joint discussion, titled “Changes in the EU: Will the Sum Preserve? Russian and European Views.”

       Many factors define the current state of Russian-European relations. This year marks five years since the EU introduced anti-Russia sanctions, which continue to hamper their bilateral economic development. After the May elections to the European Parliament, the balance of forces in Europe changed significantly. The nature of relations between Europe and the US has changed as well. Additionally, for several years, Russia has been actively strengthening ties with its Eastern partners.

       How will the changes in the European political landscape affect the EU’s approaches to cooperation with Russia? What does Russia expect from the EU and vice versa? What should our common future look like, and should it be “common” at all?
