PUTRAJAYA: Three Covid-19 self-test kits have received approval from the Health Ministry via the Medical Devices Authority (MDA) and have been available in the market since Wednesday (July 21).

       Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the RTK-Antigent self-test kits can be used for screenings at entry points and not just for individuals who want to know their status or if they had contact with a positive patient.

       The three self-test kits that are available are Salixium Covid-19 rapid antigent test produced by Reszon Diagnostics International Sdn Bhd; Gmate Covid-19 Ag saliva for home use by Citymedic Sdn Bhd and Beright Covid-19 antigen rapid test device by Medinics (M) Sdn Bhd.

       “These self-kits can also be used for the purposes of cross-border travel, pre-employment or pre-work and before admittance to institutes of higher learning.

       “It is available at pharmacies and private health facilities,” he said on Friday (July 23).

       Dr Adham stressed the importance of the results of the self-testing being reported to the authorities via MySejahtera.

       “Whether the test results are positive, negative or invalid, those who do the test must be responsible and report the actual result. This is important, especially in positive cases to prevent infection,” he said.

       Dr Adham said those whose test result is positive are to refer themselves either to a private health facility, or the Covid-19 assessment centre or a health clinic.

       Those whose results came out negative but have symptoms should go to a clinic for evaluation while those whose results are invalid are to take another test.

       Dr Adham said a flowchart on self-testing for Covid-19 will be made available to the public.
