A beautiful seaside town famous for its stunning natural beauty, golden sand, and picturesque surroundings has been slammed by tourists as they say there are “too many dogs”. Lyme Regis Beach is a popular tourist destination located in the town of Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England.

The beach offers visitors a range of activities, including sunbathing, swimming, and fossil hunting.

One of the distinctive features of Lyme Regis Beach is the abundance of fossils that can be found along its shores.

However, several tourists have slammed it because of the presence of the number of dogs.

One user wrote on TripAdvisor: “Great, apart from the dogs. Dogs everywhere. On the beach. On the promenade. In every pub and restaurant.

“We are supposed to tolerate these people who prioritise their disgusting, defecating dogs at the expense of mere humans. It spoils an otherwise wonderful seaside location.”

A second user wrote: “Don’t bother with Lyme if you own a dog. If you’re a dog friendly family then think again about going ti Lyme Regis for a break or holiday. Nowhere local to walk your dog that’s safe or suitable.

“The main beach is no dogs all year round which is ridiculous. No other areas to let them off the lead. We had to drive to Uplyme to let ours off. Most of the pins are dog friendly and most of the shops that we went into.

“There’s generally a feeling of anti dogs in the town which is a shame as we’ve always visited Lyme for an annual break and holiday at least twice a year. We’ve found more suitable places to go now in Dorset and Devon for our dogs.”

However, the beach is a popular holiday spot. The cliffs surrounding the beach are part of the Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is famous for its rich geological history and fossil discoveries.

Fossil collectors from around the world visit Lyme Regis Beach in search of ammonites, belemnites, and other prehistoric relics.

The beach is also known for its iconic landmark, the Cobb, a historic stone pier that dates back to the 13th century. The Cobb provides stunning views of the coastline and is a popular spot for fishing and walking.

Lyme Regis Beach attracts visitors of all ages, from families enjoying a day by the sea to fossil enthusiasts exploring the ancient geological formations.

With its natural beauty, rich history, and range of activities, Lyme Regis Beach offers a memorable experience for anyone visiting the Jurassic Coast.
