KUALA LUMPUR: G1 and G2 category contractors appointed by local authorities to carry out constructions for small-scale projects are allowed to operate during lockdown with immediate effect, says Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
The Inspector-General of Police said such contractors will be allowed to operate with approval given by the Housing and Local Government Ministry or the police.
"The National Security Council's special meeting made the decision today (June 25).
"For that purpose, contractors who wished to get the approval from the police can go to the nearest police station.
"Each application must have a company registration document issued by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and proof of the projects being carried out," he said in a statement on Friday (June 25).
Approval letters issued by the police are subject to the compliance of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP), he added.
"For workers such as plumbers, maintenance workers, roadside traders who do not have employers, application for travel must be obtained from the police in a one-off manner. Prior approvals can still be used," the IGP said.
