KUANTAN (Bernama): A fisherman is feared drowned after he is believed to have fallen overboard when catching fish about 14 nautical miles off Gebeng, 37.5km from here, on Saturday (Aug 7).
Pahang Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director Maritime First Admiral Datuk Amran Daud said crew members only realised Ishak Muda, 60, had gone missing when their boat returned to the Kemunting Complex Jetty here on Sunday (Aug 8) morning.
"The boat skipper claimed the crew did not see Ishak at the jetty. A search of the surrounding areas proved fruitless, and they came to the conclusion that he had fallen overboard.
"The last time Ishak was seen by the crew was at night when they were at the fishing location,” he said in a statement here on Monday (Aug 9).
The authorities are conducting a search and rescue operation for the missing fisherman.- Bernama
