KUALA LUMPUR: The combination of ideas from the debate between former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can be turned into a framework for the country's national policy, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

       Describing the debate as political maturity, the Umno president said the debate had answered some of the questions raised by the people.

       "Based on idealism, both have shared their views. The question is how to implement it.

       "I believe that the combination of ideas of the two leaders can be translated as a form of ideas and a framework of our country's policy," he told reporters after the debate late Thursday (May 12) night.

       About 400 people including political leaders, parliamentarians, corporate figures, economic experts, academicians, university students and supporters of both leaders attended the debate, at Auditorium Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC).

       The two personalities debated on two topics - whether the government should assist ailing oil and gas company Sapura Energy Bhd and the issue of Malaysia's future in terms of its economy, politics and direction.

       Ahmad Zahid also believed that similar debates should be held more often in the future.
