TWO men were arrested for illegally dumping some 500kg of durian skin at an oil palm plantation near Taman Mawar in Raub, Sinar Harian reported.
Pahang Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) director Sharudin Hamid said the incident happened on Tuesday following a tip-off.
Besides detaining the two men, in their 20s, he said enforcement officers also seized a four-wheel drive vehicle.
He said the duo would be investigated for illegally disposing of the durian skins and could face a maximum fine of RM100,000 or five years’ jail upon conviction.
“We are disappointed that there are still stubborn parties who commit such an offence, and we welcome any information from the public,” Sharudin said.
Prior to this incident, a man was also detained in Raub after he was caught dumping about a tonne of durian skin near a cemetery in Sempam, Cheroh.
