KOTA KINABALU: The state capital recorded a jump from 302 cases previously to 449 cases on Saturday (Sept 11) due to new infections among detainees at the Immigration detention depot here.

State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun in a statement said 134 new cases were recorded from the depot in Kota Kinabalu.

“There were 153 new Covid-19 cases involving detainees across the state today,” he added.

In general, Masidi said Sabah’s cases on Saturday show a marginal drop with yesterday’s figure, registering 2,163 infections, compared to 2,246 on Friday (Sept 10).

“A total of 1,799 cases or 83.2% involved citizens and 16.8% or 364 cases were non-Malaysians.

“There are 181 infections involving minors aged five and below, which includes 22 cases of babies under one year old.

“For adolescents, aged six to 17, a total of 397 infections (18.4%) were recorded,” he added.

As of Friday, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) statistics showed 51.1% of the targeted adult population had been fully inoculated, while 67% received at least their first vaccine dose.
