PETALING JAYA: Authorities have ramped up their checks on standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance under Ops Patuh to make sure that factories, eateries and other businesses stay in line as the nation seeks to break the Covid-19 chain of infection.

       Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin had announced earlier that the large-scale Ops Patuh would kick off yesterday, led by respective district police chiefs.

       In Muar, Johor, police and enforcement officers from the Immigration Department and Health Ministry, among others, paid a visit to a wood factory, where all its foreign workers were inspected one by one.

       The workers were then asked if they had previously undergone any Covid-19 test and also had their documents verified.

       In Kuching, police put up a roadblock in Jalan Datuk Patinggi Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub to check if all road users had the necessary documents.

       In Matu Daro, Mukah, Sarawak, police officers were told to check on all business premises to see if they had put in place necessary measures such as the MySejahtera QR code scanner and allowed enough space for physical distancing.

       In Kota Tinggi, Johor, a group of officers was seen inspecting business premises and a factory to check whether the workers had complied with the SOP while in Kluang, police visited a linen and fabric factory and talked to its supervisor regarding SOP compliance.

       In Tangkak in the same state, police told workers at a factory not to panic and to continue with their work as usual when they visited the area.

       The team proceeded to talk to the supervisor and asked to see workers’ documents and permission to operate.

       In Semenyih, Kajang, a team of police and enforcement officers visited a consulting and trading firm.

       The team had a detailed briefing with company staff before checking the SOP compliance here.

       In Petaling Jaya, police were seen inspecting the MySejahtera apps

       of those working at a factory there while in Subang Jaya, police were seen checking compliance at a factory there.

       A sundry shop at a factory in Sungai Buloh was inspected by a team of enforcement officers, who also checked the workers’ documents.
