JISHISHAN, Gansu, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- A total of 15,812 prefabricated houses had been built as of 3 p.m. Friday to provide shelter for earthquake-affected residents in hard-hit townships of northwest China's Gansu Province, the provincial earthquake relief headquarters told a press briefing.
Medical and material distribution points have also been set up for quake-affected residents at resettlement sites.
A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Bonan-Dongxiang-Salar Autonomous County of Jishishan in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture last week, resulting in hundreds of casualties and collapsed or damaged buildings.
The quake-hit areas will complete site selection for residential houses before Jan. 15, 2024, to ensure completion of their construction by the end of October 2024.
