JOHOR BARU: The number of registration counters at the Persada International Convention Centre will be increased to reduce congestion at the vaccine centre (PPV) here, says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad.

Hasni said police would also be deployed to control traffic flow at roads near the PPV to avoid such incidents from happening again.

Hasni was responding to a tweet criticising the management at the PPV following congestion and large crowds building up on Thursday (Aug 12).

"I have directed the related agencies to increase registration counters and express lanes for the elderly.

"The police will also regulate the traffic flow better and @my_sejahtera should schedule appointments more effectively. This will not happen again," he said in a tweet, here.

Many have turned to social media to express their frustrations and concerns about the crowd outside the PPV here. Photos of the incident had also been making rounds on social media.

When checked on Friday (Aug 13) morning, roads leading to the PPV in Johor Baru town were still packed with cars and traffic flow was slow.

There was also a crowd building up outside of the PPV, but by 10am, the crowd was not as large as it was on Thursday (Aug 13).
