KUALA LUMPUR: Over RM4.17mil worth of fireworks were seized by the police in raids on a warehouse and a terrace house in Kepong.
The fireworks were believed to have been smuggled in from China.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department special investigations and intelligence division as well as Sentul police raided a warehouse at MWE Commercial Park and a house at Taman Kepong last Wednesday.
“We received information that fireworks were being stored at the two locations.
“We arrested five men aged between 21 and 51 and seized 1,059 boxes and 35 sacks of fireworks at the two locations,” he told reporters at the Sentul police evidence depot yesterday.
ACP Beh said the suspects have been remanded to help in further investigations.
