SEREMBAN: All workers in the industrial sector in Negri Sembilan should complete their Covid-19 vaccination by the middle of next month, says Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafi Ab Malik.

The state industrialisation committee chairman said 50,524 individuals have received their first dose under the Public-Private Partnership Covid-19 Industry Immunisation

Programme (Pikas) in Negri Sembilan as of Aug 15.

Of these, 19,296 have also received their second dose.

"The workers received their shots at the d'Tempat Country Club and D’Cattleya Senawang Pikas centres.

"A sizable number has also received their shots at other public vaccination centres in the state under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme or PICK," said Mohamad Rafi who also holds the investment, education, entrepreneurship and human capital portfolios.

Mohamad Rafi said 38,636 workers received their first and 19,296 got their second dose at d'Tempat Country Club, which started operating since July 5.

Another 11,888 individuals have received their first dose at the D'Cattleya centre, which startedoperations on Aug 2.

He said as of Aug 13, 615 companies had registered 55,315 workers with the International Trade and Industry Ministry under Pikas.

"The vaccination programme for workers in the industrial sector has been progressing well and it is our hope the exercise is completed by the middle of September to enable the sector to operate at optimum levels," he said.

He said even after the workers have been fully vaccinated, they will have to undergo screening before entering any premises to ensure their workplace remained Covid-19 free.

These workers would also be required to strictly follow all Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures such as wearing face masks and keeping a physical distance although they have been fully vaccinated.

Mohamad Rafi said all employees must accept the fact that they will have to live with Covid-19 and must do their best to ensure economic activities are not in anyway disrupted.
