KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Bar Covid-19 Vaccine Initiative took off on Monday (July 12) morning, with some 500 lawyers and pupils receiving their first doses.
Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee secretary Alvin Oh Seong Yew said the 500 were from the first batch of 1,908 lawyers and pupils who registered for the initiative before June 23, adding that they would all receive appointment dates by July 15.
"The names for the second batch of more than 3,000 members nationwide are being submitted to the relevant authorities for further appointment dates," said Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee chairman Vivekananda Sukumaran, who is also its Covid-19 vaccine coordinator.
According to him, those taking part in the initiative would wear blue to their appointments as a sign of solidarity for members of the Bar who had fallen victim to Covid-19.
The initiative is a collaboration between the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee and the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry to prioritise the vaccination of members and pupils of the Malaysian Bar.
