Drinking puts Gary Chaw’s marriage on the rocks

MALAYSIAN singer Gary Chaw (pic), who was filmed shouting vulgarities at diners inside a restaurant earlier this year, has been separated from his wife for the past three months, reported Oriental Daily.

According to Taiwanese media reports, Chaw’s wife, Wu Su-ling, was photographed bringing their two children to her new home after spending time with friends.

She was also seen driving her friends to meals, but sans Chaw.

This led many to speculate that their marriage is on the rocks due to Chaw’s drinking.

In 2009, the 42-year-old singer was reported to have been in a drunken brawl with Hong Kong singer Justin Lo, after which he vowed to abstain from drinking.

In 2013, after a quarrel with his wife, a drunken Chaw was seen dragging a female make-up artist onto the stage.

Singer Alien Huang, who was in the audience, had to haul him off the stage.

Chaw, from Sabah, later apologised and swore to quit show business if he drank again.

Wu was reported to also have given him an ultimatum and said that things would be “critical” between them if he was involved in another drinking incident.

The couple married in 2008 and have two children.

Chaw rose to fame with the song Superwoman in 2006 and was named Best Male Mandarin Singer at Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards in 2008.

       > A man with a well-toned body gained 20kg after being “stuck” in a construction site for two months due to the lockdown in Shanghai, China, reported China Press.

The man, whose surname is Ma, was confined to the house he was renovating when the lockdown was announced earlier this year.

Having no access to cooking utensils or ingredients, Ma was forced to eat instant noodles for 70 days.

“When I got home and took a look at myself, I was shocked,” he said.

A photograph Ma took with his cat on March 16 showed him with washboard abs.

Ma said he weighed just 75kg before the lockdown, but now weighs 95.5kg.

However, Ma is sure he can regain his muscular physique once he starts lifting weights again.

When his photographs were shared on social media, many netizens speculated he must have eaten an absurd amount of instant noodles to gain so much weight.

On June 1, Shanghai city, the country’s economic centre and global trade hub, eased Covid-19 restrictions after a two-month lockdown.
