JOHOR BARU: Johor police have received 36 reports against a Facebook post which allegedly insulted His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, says state police chief Comm M. Kumar (pic).

He said the reports were lodged by several parties and police had recorded their statements and forwarded them to Bukit Aman for further action.

"The case will be investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act," Comm Kumar said in a statement.

Pasir Gudang Umno Youth had lodged a police report against a Facebook account holder for allegedly uploading an offensive post against Sultan Ibrahim deemed slanderous and insulting to the royal institution.

The report was lodged on Sunday (April 14) at the Seri Alam district police headquarters in Pasir Gudang following the post on the Facebook account of "Hezry Yasin".
