KUALA LUMPUR: An e-hailing driver was beaten to death by a group of men following an argument involving his girlfriend at a nightclub.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the suspects had tailed the victim’s 40-year-old foreign girlfriend as he came to the premises to pick her up.
"The incident occurred at 1.35am on Dec 28.
"The suspects then beat up the 28-year-old man causing serious head injuries.
"He died while receiving medical treatment two days later," he told reporters on Friday (Jan 7).
He said investigations revealed while the woman was with her boyfriend at the parking lot of the nightclub, they were ambushed by a group of six men.
"The suspects opened the car door and dragged the victim out and beat him until he was unconscious.
"A post-mortem revealed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head," he said.
ACP Beh said a team of police from Sentul and the Kuala Lumpur Serious Crimes Unit (D9) arrested six men between Jan 1 and Jan 6.
"The suspects aged between 20 and 24 were arrested within the Klang Valley, Johor and Perak.
"Three of the suspects have records for various crimes," he said, adding that they have been remanded until Jan 13 to assist further investigations.
He said the case was classified as murder.
