Boris Johnson was grilled over concerns about food shortages in Christmas as the UK continues to witness a lack of lorry drivers. The grilling came after Westminster last month unveiled plans to recruit 5000 foreign haulage drivers to help ease pressure on deliveries in the run-up to the holiday season.
He then asked: “What will Christmas be like this year?”
The Prime Minister replied: “I think Christmas this year will be very considerably better than last year.”
Mr Walker asked: “How normal will it be?”
Mr Johnson replied: “I think we have very reliable supply chains in this country.”
Mr Walker interjected: “So you're not worried about supply chain issues?”
Mr Walker interjected: “Can I ask you about shortages here in this country?”
The PM replied: “I think that there are going to be difficulties that we have to address as the world economy wakes up and as the UK economy wakes up.”
