BANDUNG: Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) is targeting to receive 50,000 new applications from international students who want to study in Malaysia this year, says its chief executive officer Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin.
He said the target was based on the trend of applications received over the past two years, which was 30,000 in 2020 and 40,000 in 2021.
“The targets set take into account the Covid-19 post-pandemic factors and the recovery period, although the number that had been achieved before this is higher (which) is up to 70,000 applications,” he said to the media at a breaking of fast ceremony with the West Javanese education community here on Sunday night.
Also present were director of Education Malaysia Indonesia Assoc Prof Dr Mior Haris Mior Harun and regional manager (marketing communications and branding) of EMGS Megat Mohd Samsul Megat Ismail.
Mohd Radzlan also predicted that 10,000 applications would be received from Indonesia this year in line with the 10% increase in student enrolment from the country over the past few years, Bernama reported.
There are 170,000 foreign students from 162 countries continuing their studies in Malaysia and 7,248 of them are from Indonesia.
