KUALA LUMPUR: All roadblocks at state borders nationwide will be removed from midnight following the lifting of the interstate travel ban, says Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

However, the Inspector-General of Police said that roadblocks at enhanced movement control order (MCO) areas as well as those for Ops Benteng and crime prevention operations will still be mounted.

"While roadblocks at state borders will not be conducted anymore, police compliance operation teams will still be deployed to ensure that the people comply with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).

"The teams will be deployed randomly to public places with a large concentration of people," he said in a statement on Sunday (Oct 10).

Acryl Sani advised the public not to take the decision to lift the interstate travel for granted.

"We hope the public maintains a high-level of SOP compliance to ensure Covid-19 does not spread," he said.

Earlier Sunday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that interstate travel nationwide will resume starting Monday (Oct 11).
