TUMPAT: Ahmad Airoul Firhan Mohd Rosdi signed up for vaccination through MySejahtera on Aug 11 and was surprised to learn he would be getting jabbed on his 18th birthday.

       He said before getting the appointment date, he would check the mobile app daily as he was so eager to get the Covid-19 vaccine despite having doubts since he had yet to reach 18.

       “However, last week, I got the date for the first dose which falls on my birthday today (yesterday) and considered it a birthday gift,” he said when met at Dewan Kopeladar vaccination centre, near here.

       Ahmad Airoul Firhan, from Kampung Alor Pasir, was accompanied by his mother Siti Rohana Idris, 41.

       The science student at Kedah Matriculation College, said he had to skip online classes to attend the appointment but had informed his lecturer about it the night before.

       Getting vaccinated is also his preparation to travel back to his campus when higher learning institutions are allowed to reopen, he said.

       “I hope more teenagers my age can get vaccinated to break the Covid-19 chain of infection and to achieve herd immunity as targeted by the government,” said the eldest of two siblings.

       Meanwhile, Siti Rohana distributed 50 packs of yellow glutinous rice to the staff at the PPV to celebrate her son’s birthday.

       The day was made even more special when Ahmad Airoul Firhan received a cake and chocolate bouquet from a representative of the Kelantan People’s Action Council (MTRK).

       MTRK representative Aiman Yusri Mohd Yusof said the gifts were for Ahmad Airoul Firhan to cherish the memories of him getting the Covid-19 vaccination appointment on his 18th birthday. — Bernama
