Shadow Secretary for Business and Energy, Ed Miliband was forced to replace Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer in PMQs due to a last-minute need to isolate . Once introduced to the House, Mr Miliband stood up to address Boris Johnson and was met with loud jeering from the opposition. While smiling Mr Miliband then joked that it was just like "the old days" in reference to his time as Labour leader.

He also joked that both sides of the House could be assured this would be a one-time affair.

He said: "I presume you will want to get on to the Budget because all you are doing is delaying it."

Mr Miliband then rose again and joked he would be doing this one time only, resulting in laughter from both sides of the House.

This comes after reports that Sir Keir Starmer has tested positive for coronavirus.

Sir Keir has previously isolated four times. Labour sources confirmed this time he had tested positive for Covid himself.

It's understood the Labour leader is feeling fine. He was taking daily lateral flow tests and today’s came back positive.

Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves had to step in at the last moment to respond to the Budget instead of Sir Keir.

During Prime Minister's Questions, Mr Miliband called on Boris Johnson and his Government to go further to combat climate change.

He said: "We all need the vital COP26 conference to deliver next week.

"This is because failing to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees will have devastating consequences for our planet.

"That is shared across this house.

"Does the Prime Minister agree to keep that goal of 1.5 degrees alive we need to half global emissions in this decisive decade.

Mr Johnson first began by offering his sympathies to the leader of the opposition.

He concluded, however, that while he did want the COP26 to be a success it is currently too early to know whether the plans they have going forward on climate change are not enough.

He did note that the UK has already made substantial commitments towards keeping the 1.5 degrees target alive in the fight against climate change.
