SERI KEMBANGAN: Police have arrested four men believed to be part of a scam syndicate call centre here.

       Serdang OCPD Asst Comm AA Anbalagan said police raided two condominium units at around 2.10pm on Sunday (April 17) following information on a scam syndicate which was offering victims nonexistent jobs.

       "We raided a condominium unit along Jalan Dagang SB, The Mines Resort and a unit along Jalan Akasa, Cheras Selatan here.

       "In the first raid, we arrested four men aged between 20 and 26 and seized five mobile phones, some documents, a set of keys and an access card," he said in a statement on Monday (April 18).

       He said they then raided the other unit which was used as a base of operations and seized three laptops.

       "Our investigations revealed the syndicate has been running the call centre to dupe Singaporean and Australian victims into making payments in order to apply for bogus jobs.

       "They have been operating since January," he said, adding that the perpetrators used WhatsApp and Telegram to contact victims as part of the scam.

       He said investigations revealed the suspects did not have any criminal records and all four had been remanded for four days.

       "We have classified the case as cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code," he said.
