FLEET Street great David Banks has died at the age of 74.
David, a former Sun night editor, helped train and lead a crack team of journalists who kept the paper rolling during the 1980s Wapping strike.

It led to the defeat of the all-powerful print unions, marking a turning point in the industry.
He grew up on a council estate and left school at 16, becoming a sub- editor on his local paper, the Warrington Guardian.
By 31, he was assistant chief sub at the Daily Mirror before joining the New York Daily Post.
He came to The Sun in 1981, and later edited the New York Daily News, Sydney Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mirror.
He leaves wife Gemma and two children.
