MELAKA: A jobless man has pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh here to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt to his 68-year-old father using a knife.

       Judge Elesabet Paya Wan set Sept 12 as the date of sentencing after the plea of Muhamad Azmizal Ahmad, 28, was recorded on Wednesday (July 26).

       Based on the facts of the case, Muhamad Azmizal had voluntarily caused bodily injuries to Ahmad Adam, 68, with a knife.

       The offence was committed at 4.45am on July 20 in the kitchen of a house in Kampung Air Hitam, Tanjung Minyak in the Melaka Tengah district.

       The victim was attacked by the accused who became agitated when told to stop his glue-sniffing habit.

       The charge was framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the same Act, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years, fine or whipping or any two of such punishments, upon conviction.

       Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Nazrin Ali Rahim prosecuted while Muhamad Azmizal was unrepresented.
