A young person was shot Tuesday evening near a school in Prince William County, Va., the police said.

       The victim was described as a girl, but police gave no age, describing her only as a juvenile. The shooting was reported about 6:30 p.m. in the Woodbridge area. The victim was taken to a hospital but no condition was given.

       Police said it occurred in the 15300 block of Gatehouse Terrace. The site is a residential street near Rippon Boulevard and Route 1. It is within a few hundred yards of the Mary G. Porter Traditional School.
