KUALA LUMPUR: Some RM82,314 worth of drugs have been seized and three individuals detained following raids in Jalan Yew and Taman Desa Petaling here.
Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) chief Asst Comm Sahar Latif said those detained in the Nov 9 raids were a married couple and another man.
"We arrested the first suspect, a local man, in front of a shop at Jalan Yew, Pudu, and seized 254g of methamphetamine as well as RM200 cash.
"The suspect then led us to the front of a restaurant in the same area where we arrested another local man. We seized 10g of methamphetamine, RM247 cash and a car," he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 12).
Further investigation led police to a condominium at Taman Desa Petaling where the third suspect was detained, he added.
"We seized 875g of methamphetamine, 734g of ketamine and RM5,980 cash from the premises.
"We believe the suspects were using the condominium unit as a storage area. The unit was rented by one of the suspects for RM1,200 a month," he said.
The drugs seized were worth RM82,314, ACP Sahar added.
"The syndicate has been operating for about three months.
"The drugs seized could have supplied 3,746 users," he said.
All three suspects tested positive for drugs and have been remanded until Tuesday (Nov 16), he added.
