JEMPOL: Police here have arrested three suspects and seized 680kg of ketum leaves in the district.
Jempol district police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said in the first operation around 8pm Monday (Nov 15), a police team arrested a 32-year-old lorry driver and 36-year-old labourer at Taman Desa Penarikan in Bahau and seized 520kg of ketum leaves.
The leaves were packed in 67 plastic bags with a street value of RM5,200.
"We also seized the lorry," he said, adding that both suspects were from Felda Palong 3 in Gemas.
In the second case, police detained a 27-year-old suspect in front of a house in the same area and seized 160kg of ketum leaves.
The suspect from Felda Palong 15 was found in possession of the leaves with a street value of RM1,600.
Police also seized a four-wheel drive vehicle from the suspect.
Supt Hoo said both cases were being probed under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952 for being in possession of a psychotropic substance.
