THIS in the moment a blood-soaked man cowers on the ground after a daylight stabbing that lays bare London's knife crime epidemic.

Graphic footage shows the aftermath of a machete attack - with the victim reportedly having his hand sliced off by a massive blade.

In the clip, a man sits in a pool of blood on the curb between two cars in front of stunned witnesses.

It then cuts to a different view of the victim as he holds what appears to be a tea towel to his arm, before revealing more red splattered pavement.

It is the latest London blade attack as knife crime continues to plague the capital - with 10 people caught with blades every day.

So far this year at least 23 teenagers have been killed in knife attacks, compared to 14 for the whole of 2020.

And for all ages across the capital, 71 died in incidents involving blades in 2020.

Experts have blamed the sharp rise on Covid lockdowns and students spending months out of school.

If teenage deaths continue at the current rate, this will be the worst year for young homicides in London since 2008.

Officers said they were called to Golding Street, Tower Hamlets, shortly before 5.45pm on September 12 following reports of a stabbing.

A 19-year-old man was found with a "significant" knife wound to the arm.

He was immediately rushed to a major trauma centre with "life-changing injuries".

A second man, 20, was later discovered with a stab wound in nearby Christian Street and he was also taken to hospital for treatment.

The second half of the video shows police handcuffing a man lying face down on the ground.

It appears to have been taken outside a block of flats, but cops were unable to determine where or when the footage was shot.

Social media reports suggest the arrest happened shortly after the stabbing in a "robbing gone wrong".

       'LIFE-CHANGING INJURIES'

A Met Police spokesperson said: "We are aware of a video on social media showing a male who is visibly injured on a street in Tower Hamlets, followed by officers making arrests.

"The first half of the video appears to have been filmed following an incident in Golding Street, E1 that is under investigation.

"It has not been possible to determine where or when the second half of the video was filmed.

"We are aware of commentary on social media about the circumstances that led to the incident.

"An investigation is ongoing and we would urge people not to speculate."

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to call 101, quoting reference 5643/12SEP, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
