MELAKA: China-born Q-Lin finally takes a break after dedicatedly serving the Melaka police as a crime-buster for a decade.
The male Labrador, who began its service in March 2011, was rigorously trained in the ways of a police dog by the K-9 unit of Melaka.
The male canine was born in China on April 6, 2010, before being procured by Royal Malaysian Police on Dec 23, 2010, and was trained by his handlers in Bahasa Malaysia.
Melaka CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman had nothing but praise for the four-legged retiree, whom he described as a reliable friend of the Melaka police.
“Q-Lin has excelled in sniffing out the bad guys and also patrol work while serving the Melaka police contingent,” he said on Thursday (July 8).
ACP Mohd Sukri said the Q-Lian will enjoy a retired life in comfort, as dog-handlers from the K-9 unit will still care for it.
“He (Q-Lin) will not be involved in any operations from now on,” he said.
During his service, Q-Lin was involved in narcotic operations, reinforcing checks at Melaka International Airport, as well as the ferry terminal.
Q-Lin has also managed to track drug-addicts hiding in secluded areas and made them surrender without putting up a struggle.
