> The Taliban takeover of Afghanistan has seen the dried fruit trade from the embattled nation to India worth around US$55bil (RM231bil) drying up, Makkal Osai reported.
More than 200 lorries carrying fruits and nuts used to ply the route between three countries – Afghanistan, Pakistan and India –daily but have completely stopped since Kabul fell.
Traders in Mumbai, who are among the biggest importers of the nuts and fruits, stand to lose hundreds of thousands of rupees as a result.
This has also led to price increase of up to 30% on some nuts such as almonds.
