KUALA LUMPUR: The bodies of two more victims of the Taman Bukit Permai landslide in Ampang here have been recovered early Friday (March 11).
The discovery of two more male victims brings the number of those who died in the disaster to four.
The sole survivor of the tragedy is an 87-year-old man.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the third body was found close to midnight.
“The body was recovered outside house number nine,” he told reporters at the disaster site.
The remains of the fourth deceased was recovered at about 1.55am outside house number three, he added.
ACP Mohamad Farouk said the Fire and Rescue Department would sweep the area using rescue dogs to ensure there are no other victims.
“With the recovery of the two bodies, the search and rescue operation has concluded and a flushing operation will be conducted.
“Once it is determined there are no other victims, the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) will conduct a clean-up,” he said.
He also said the police would provide security for the area to ensure no thefts occur.
“The MPAJ will conduct a thorough check to see if there is any more soil movement in the area,” he said.
On Thursday (March 10), a landslide at Taman Bukit Permai at about 5.54pm left five individuals trapped.
Fifteen houses and 10 vehicles were affected
Nearby residents were advised to move to the Taman Mega Jaya temporary relief centre.
The sole survivor was rescued at about 6.54pm.
The bodies of the second and third victims were recovered at 9.10pm and 10.58pm respectively.
