King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and the Princess of Wales are thought to be readying themselves for two years of tours in a bid "to keep the Commonwealth intact". The blitz of royal tours follows an absence of royal trips following the death of Queen Elizabeth II last year and Charles' Coronation this year. Speaking on Palace Confidential, the Mail on Sunday's editor-at-large Charlotte Griffiths said that Kate will not be making the same "mistakes" as the late Queen when it comes to the trips.

Ms Griffiths said that Kate will keep her time on the trips abroad to a minimum.

The Princess of Wales is keen to not disrupt her three children's lives.

The royal expert said that Kate had learned the lessons of the late Queen.

She explained: "Kate will nip out but probably won't stay for any more than three or four days at a time."

Ms Griffiths continued: "She puts her kids first and never wants to disrupt their school term.

"She wants them to have as normal a life as possible, and not do what Charles had to live through as a little boy which was not seeing his mum for six months at a time because she jetted off.

"Arguably, the Queen didn't do a very good job at finding that balance between royal tours and family.

"Charles was deeply affected by being separated from his mum."

The Daily Mail's royal editor Rebecca English confirmed that the Waleses are keen to limit their trips to between five and seven days for the sake of their young children.

Royal expert Jennie Bond echoed this, telling OK!: "I think the days of lengthy tours, leaving the children to be looked after by nannies, are over.

"Largely, I think the school holidays will be respected, and future tours will be short and extremely busy."

Meanwhile, the King and the Queen have two trips planned, with one of them expected to be to Kenya.

Since his accession, the King has only made one state visit to Germany in March.

He was due to visit France at the same time, but this was called off due to riots in Paris.
