Chances of scattered light rain Monday

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: The Kuwait Meteorological Department expected low and medium clouds to multiply from Sunday evening until the late hours of Monday, with chances of scattered light rain and moderate temperatures during the day between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius and cold at night between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius. Al-Qarawi, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that on Tuesday a European air mass is expected to enter from the northwest accompanied by a very cold air mass that leads to a noticeable decrease in temperatures and active northwest winds that raise dust, as cold weather prevails during the day and very cold at night, with chances of frost formation on some areas, especially agricultural and desert areas.

Al-Qarawi stated that the expected maximum temperatures will be between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, and the expected minimum temperatures will be between 1 and 3 degrees Celsius. He pointed out that the cold weather will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, and tends to be moderate on Thursday, with a slight decrease in the air altitude, then the cold will increase again from Thursday evening due to the progress of the European air altitude again. Kuwaiti astronomer Adel Al- Saadoun said the second wave of winter begins today after the end of the quarterly season and lasts for 26 days, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Saadoun said in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency that if the people of the Arabian Peninsula count the beginning of winter on Dec 7, then with the advent of Shabbat it is the beginning of severe winter. He added the weather is characterized by an increase in wind speed and volatility, and as the saying goes that this cold bleeds the noses of camels due to its severity, especially in the early morning in the open areas and the desert, the situation sums up its severity.

Meanwhile, meteorologist Abdulaziz Al-Qarawi said Kuwait will experience a severe cold wave for 5 days, starting from next Tuesday, until Saturday evening. In a statement to Al-Qabas, Al- Qarawi attributed the reason for this wave to the cold air front, in light of the noticeable activity of the northwesterly winds and the deepening of the influential high air pressure in the north of the Arabian Peninsula. Al-Qarawi says the lowest expected temperatures to read 0° Celsius in the desert areas of Kuwait, especially next Wednesday and Thursday. He stated that the European highlands that we are affected by extend from Eastern Europe to the north of the peninsula, and the mild winter conditions are expected in the middle of next week. On the possibility of rain, Al-Qarawi indicated there is prediction for light rainfall on Monday night and dawn Tuesday.
