GEORGE TOWN: A 31-year-old mechanic was killed in a freak accident when he was crushed by a car he was repairing at his house-cum-workshop in Jalan Bayan Lepas here.

       A state Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said a team of firemen from the Bayan Baru station were deployed to the scene after the department received a distress call at about 11.55pm on Saturday.

       “Firemen had to use rescue tools to extricate the body of the victim at about 1am,” he said in a statement here.

       The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel and the body was handed over to the police for further action.
