Emergency services were called to Locke Park in the Kingstone area of Barnsley, south Yorkshire after reports that a firearm had been discharged. Pictures showed multiple ambulances, an air ambulance and police at the scene.
Officers from South Yorkshire Police reportedly descended on the location amid concerns of a "shooting".
Footage from the scene shows a number of paramedics tending to an injured man on the ground, with armed officers from South Yorkshire Police seen surveying the area nearby.
At present, there has been no official confirmation from the force about the event.
However, the Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed that they were at the scene attending to reports of a person being shot.
A spokesperson told YorkshireLive: "We got a call at 2.55pm to reports of a person who had been shot and was bleeding.
"We sent one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was in attendance and so was our hazardous area response team."
A cordon has been put in place at the scene, and officers from South Yorkshire Police's armed response team are present.
Some locals took to social media to share their shock at the events at the park, where their children frequently play.

One person wrote: "Makes you not want to go anywhere!! A shooting at Locke Park though think Barnsley needs the military to pay a visit I fear for my kids when they get older and start going out on their own."
While another added: "I was there with little one when all police and ambulances turned up, never seen owt like it, got straight back in car".
Darfield councillor, Kevin Osborne also spoke of the incident on Twitter urging locals to stay away from the scene to allow emergency services to respond to the events.

He wrote: "Worrying news from Locke Park, with reports of a shooting close to a children's play area.
"It's vital our emergency services are left to process the scene in peace; now is not the time for Facebook likes.
"Barnsley is, and will be, better than this."
