A HEARTBROKEN widow blasted her "evil" neighbour after he destroyed her late husband's shrine.

Margaret Ilkovics tragically lost Rick, her partner of nearly 20 years, and created a beautiful tribute in a communal garden to celebrate his memory in Salford, Greater Manchester.

But, the innocent shrine sent nightmare neighbour Anthony Kenyon into a downwards spiral of rage and abuse.

The ex-social worker completely destroyed the memorial site over ridiculous "health and safety" fears.

He callously ripped up a three-foot beside Margret's shrine, sprayed surrounding plants with weedkiller and wrecked decorative ornaments.

Kenyon even put some trinkets in a shoebox and threw it in Margaret's bin whilst she was on holiday.

''Whilst one appreciates certain individuals placing such items and all manner of other rubbish on graves, It is not acceptable in a domestic garden.

The sicko posted more nasty letters to the grieving widow claiming Rick's cancer was "bogus" and accused her of being a gold-digger, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Margaret was able to slap her "evil" neighbour with a two-year restraining order but this did not end his twisted campaign of "mental torture".

Kenyon would continue to shove raw octopus through Margret's letterbox, cover her door in cocoa powder and smash eggs on the property.

He lobbed sticks, burnt carrots and rubbish outside her front door as well as a light-bulb and aerosol cans at her wall in his obsession to intimidate and harass her.

The defendant also poured a thick liquid solution from a container down her outside drains.

The terrified widow told the court she had ''seriously'' considered suicide and just wanted "to be left alone to heal" following Rick's passing at the age of 54.

Kenyon's disturbing behaviour was finally caught on camera after Margaret felt compelled to fork out £340 on CCTV.

She told the court: “I still have not gotten over it [Rick's passing]. I was with Rick for 19 years.

"He was a wonderful man, kind, loving, generous, sweet, caring, everything you could wish for. 19 years with Rick, best time in my life."

The traumatised resident said of Kenyon: ''He's just an evil man and I don't know what I would have done if he had been allowed to stay next door.

"I would lying awake night after night worrying about going outside and finding the mess he made.

''I was even worried this year about putting a Christmas tree outside or putting up holly wreath on the door."

Judge Kate Cornell sentenced Kenyon to 13 months in prison, suspended for 18 months for his "petty and vindictive behaviour".

The judge told Kenyon upon sentencing: “Low level these incidents may be, but they were repeated and targeted against her and calculated to continuously annoy and upset her, and they did.

“Mrs Ilkovics has reported feeling anxious, depressed, even to the point of feeling suicidal. She has not felt able to grieve for her husband, and not felt able to go out and live her life freely."

The nightmare tenant has also been evicted from the property and been issued a fresh four year restraining order.

Margaret said after sentencing: "At least he can't come anywhere near there now.

"I was dancing when I found he had to move away. I have been messaging everyone saying: 'He is gone now - gone at last'.''
