PETALING JAYA: The Transport Ministry has suspended the operator licence of CBSB Transport Sdn Bhd following a five-vehicle crash at Jalan Ipoh on Sept 6.

       Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the decision was made based on the report produced by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

       “Based on the findings, the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) decided to suspend the operator licence of CBSB Transport Sdn Bhd for three months beginning Sept 27 or until the company fully complies with its ICOP requirements, whichever is later.

       “This is in line with Section 62 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715) which stipulates that any company that fails to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Industry Code of Practice for Road Transport Activities (ICOP) without valid cause has violated the terms of the licence and posed safety risks to other drivers, pedestrians, and the public at large,” said Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Sept 28).

       He added that the ministry took the case seriously and would not compromise on issues affecting public safety or tolerate non-compliance on licence and permit conditions by operators.

       “We hope that this action serves as an example for other operators and a reminder for the broader public and commercial transport industries,” said Dr Wee.

       On Sept 6, it was reported that a collision occurred involving a tipper lorry and five passenger cars at Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur heading to Sentul from Jalan Duta.

       A motorist made a miraculous escape with only light injuries to his face after the car he was driving was crushed in a pile-up caused by a runaway lorry.

       The victim’s car was caught between the lorry and an SUV and was crushed by the impact.

       A dashcam footage of the crash, showing the lorry ramming the vehicles waiting at a traffic light intersection went viral on social media.
