Lockdown rules change: The restrictions that lift from today
2021-08-17 00:00:00.0     每日快报-英国新闻     原网页

In a bid to shrug off more of its pandemic restrictions, the Government will relax further restrictions from today. There will be an added incentive for unvaccinated Brits or for those who have yet to receive their double shot to take up the jab, as many of these new freedoms will only be eligible to fully vaccinated Britons.

From August 16 double jabbed Brits will no longer need to self-isolate after coming into contact with a positive case.

The same applied to all under 18s, this means class classroom “bubbles” will no longer need to isolate if there’s one positive case.

This system prompted anger as many complained school children were missing valuable learning time unnecessarily.

Isolation rules are the only restrictions to be relaxed today in England as most pandemic measures were lifted in July on so-called “Freedom Day”.

Today sees a more significant relaxation of rules in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The biggest changes will be seen in Northern Ireland as they relax many of their rules from today.

Double jabbed close contacts of those who test positive don’t need to self-isolate if they test negative.

Support bubbles will no longer exist.

The bubble system in schools will end, but students in secondary schools should still wear masks for the first six weeks back.

No limits on the numbers who can meet in gardens.

The rule of six is lifted in hospitality venues such as pubs and wedding receptions, but nightclubs remain closed.

One-metre social distancing measures will still apply in indoor venues such as in shops.

Indoor gatherings will be limited to 10 from three different households.

Face masks are compulsory unless exempt in public areas such as on public transport and in shops.

Working from home where possible is still advised where possible.

For both countries, restrictions have been largely lifted in line with England.

Masks remain mandatory in indoor public spaces such as on public transport, hospitals and shops, although this has been lifted in Wales in hospitality venues such as bars and restaurants.

Both the Scottish and Welsh governments are continuing with their work from home message.

Scotland is continuing with the requirement for indoor hospitality venues to collect customer contact details.
