KAMOGAWA, Chiba -- A rice terrace in this east Japan city has again enhanced its nighttime appeal with a display of LED lights that will continue until Jan. 10, 2022.
A total of 10,000 LEDs are lighting up the Oyama Senmaida rice terrace in the city's Hiratsuka district -- one of the "top 100 rice terraces in Japan" -- with 6,000 of them changing color every 15 minutes, from orange to blue, then to green and purple.
During the light-up event last fiscal year, some 10,000 people visited the site.
The terrace is lit up between around 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Organizers are urging visitors to maintain distances of 2 meters and to stay for no more than one hour as part of coronavirus measures.
